POINT SYSTEM
There are 5 ways to generate points. (1) Body Composition Change, (2) Team Weekend Event Attendance, (3) Check in attendance points, (4) Team bonus points, and (5) Team referral points. The 5 categories of points are tallied together to determine your overall score. The top individual from Valencia and the top individual from South Bay will be considered the top 2 finishers. The person with the best score amongst those two will be determined the winner. 3rd place will be considered the next highest scoring individual after those two. First place wins $10,000, second place wins $3,000, third place wins $2,000. There will be a Facebook vote for the best before and after pictures however, they will not count towards challenge points. This voting will take place from October 17-21st.

BODY COMPOSITION
Body composition points are calculated as follows. Each person will receive points from THREE categories: weight loss, muscle gain, and body fat % loss. The category of those 3 that elicits the highest point total will be the score that is kept for your individual score. The two lower scoring categories will be eliminated. For example, if you score 100 points from weight loss, 53 points from muscle gain, and 106 from body fat % loss, then your score will be 106 points. Each contestants point total is then weighted at 30%.

Weight Loss:

MALE  160 points per % of weight lost
FEMALE  180 points per % of weight lost

I.E. Male loses 15% of their total body weight = 2400 points
I.E. Female loses 14% of their total body weight = 2520 points

Muscle Gain:

MALE  240 points per pound of muscle added
FEMALE  360 points per pound of muscle added

I.E. Male gains 10 LBS of muscle = 2400 points
I.E. Female gains 7 LBS of muscle = 2520 points

Body Fat % Loss:
Receive points for each FULL % point reached that you lower your body fat by. The amount of points given for each percentage point varies and is explained below. I.E. if you are a MALE and start at 31% and end at 15% you will receive 120 points for 30%, and 100 points for 29, 28, 27, 26, 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, and 15. This would give you a total of 1620 points.

 MALE  Under 12%  300 Points
 12% – 26%  200 Points
 Over 26%  240 Points
 FEMALE  Under 14%  300 Points
 14% – 30%  200 Points
 Over 30%  240 Points

I.E. Male loses 26% – 13% = 2600 points
I.E. Female loses 31% – 19% = 2440 points

** There is a minimum healthy body fat of 3% for men and 8% for women. Any loss under award no pts.

TEAM WEEKEND EVENTS
Weekend event points are awarded during EACH of the 7 weekend events. These points are determined by attendance from Valencia vs. South Bay participants and is done on a percentage basis depending on the number of challenge participants per location (I.E. if there are 500 Valencia participants and 250 South Bay participants then South Bay would need half of the amount of weekend event participants each weekend). The team who has the larger percentage of participants for a given weekend event will receive 10 points. These points are attendance and not performance based. Each individual on the winning team will receive 20 points for each weekend weekend event where their attendance was higher. This means that there is a maximum of 140 points up for grabs in this category.

CHECK IN ATTENDANCE
The third way to generate points is through Facebook and Instagram check ins/hashtags. Each time you workout at Afterburn “Check-In” Facebook and hashtag either #teamafterburnvalencia or #teamafterburnsouthbay. You MUST use the hashtag as it allows us to know which team the check in goes to. The team who has the most check-ins (based on percentage of participants) each week (max 1 per day per person) will receive 20 bonus points for everyone on that team. There are 8 weeks so there are 160 points total that are up for grab in this category.

TEAM BONUS POINTS
The 4th way to accumulate points is through the final bonus point structure. Every individual on the team (Valencia or South Bay) who has the highest average score amongst all of its participants will be awarded an additional 100 points!

TEAM REFERRAL POINTS
The final way to accumulate points is through the team referral point system. The team/location with the most non member referrals will earn a 100 point head start!

FITNESS CHALLENGE OVERVIEW
This is an individual challenge that will involve 7 weekend events where you will compete alongside the other challengers in 7 events. This challenge is all about fitness as the most well rounded competitor in each of the four categories will be crowned the winner (male Rx, male scaled, female Rx, female scaled). Even though the competition is individual you will be placed on the Afterburn Fitness Valencia or Afterburn South Bay (depending on where you register and work out) team for the weekend challenges, as this challenge is a Valencia vs. South Bay competition. There are Male and Female divisions as well as Rx and Scaled divisions. There are a total of 6 regular events and 1 final event during the course of the 8 weeks. During the 6 regular events, each individual’s top 4 scores will be kept, and the bottom 2 scores dropped (which means you can miss 2 events if necessary). The top 5 men and top 5 women from the Valencia Rx division and the top 5 men and 5 women from the scaled Valencia division will compete against the top 5 men and 5 women from the respective divisions from the South Bay team in the final event. During this final event the top 10 contestants from each division will compete against one another in one final day of events with the winning Rx competitors (male and female) taking home $5,000 each and the winning Scaled competitors taking home $2,500 each.

POINT SYSTEM
There are 4 divisions. Male Rx, Male Scaled, Female Rx, and Female Scaled. The first 6 events are scored individually based on your division to determine the top 5 men and 5 women from the Rx and Scaled divisions from Valencia’s and South Bays teams. Each individuals TOP 4 scores are kept, with the bottom two scores dropped. In addition to this individual scoring, each weekend event will have a Valencia vs. South Bay element. The team that wins this element will earn a bonus handicap to be used in the final event that will give that team a time advantage for the top individuals that reach the finals for either Valencia or South Bay. Scoring for each event follows a descending ladder format.
1st Place 100 points
2nd Place 95 points
3rd Place 90 points
4th Place 85 points
5th Place 80 points
6th Place 75 points
7th Place 70 points
8th Place 65 points
9th Place 60 points
10th Place 55 points….
Etc. on down until 5 points for 20th place. Every team below 20th place receives 0 points for each event. Again this scoring format is used for each of the 4 separate divisions.
